Milarepa - Songs of Joy and Freedom

This retreat has already taken place. We will add details for the 2027 retreat as soon as they are available.

Dates: Saturday 25th July – Sat 1st August 2026

Led by: Taramaitri, Lilamati, Akasharaja and Nischalasri

Price: £330 waged; £252 unwaged; children half price; under-fives free

(See bursary fund if you cannot afford these prices or would like to make a donation.)

Join us for a week-long family-friendly retreat as we immerse ourselves in the songs and stories of the 11th century yogi, Milarepa, who overcame all obstacles to find freedom and joy in a life of simplicity and meditation.

We will be getting to know him through storytelling, meditation, ritual, creative activities for all ages, music, campfires… and the famous Buddhafield North Play!

The retreat will begin with an opening ceremony at 5pm on Saturday 25th July and end with a closing ritual finishing at 1pm on Saturday 1st August. To support the sense of retreat community we will build over the week, we expect all retreatants to attend both these rituals and to remain on or around the site between these times. If you have exceptional circumstances which mean you may not be able to do this, please contact the team before you book so we can discuss how this will impact on the retreat community and work out whether we are able to accommodate this.

This retreat is open to all.

If you’re having issues trying to book, please contact us and we’ll make alternative arrangements.
