Buddhafield North keeps its costs as low as it can in order to let as many people as possible attend our retreats. We do not make any profit, and any surplus money we have from retreat payments goes towards the following year’s retreats, paying property rental fees, food, materials, etc. With the cost of living crisis, it is becoming more and more important that we continue to keep costs as low as possible.

We do recognise though that our prices are still more than some can afford. In order to help people who are in a financially difficult situation, we have a bursary fund. This fund is used to help people who are not able to pay the full price of a retreat to still attend.

Since 2024 we have given out bursaries that enabled 21 people to come on one of our retreats. Here is a testimonial from one of them:

'“I was the recipient of a bursary . I received a bursary for me and my two daughters to come on the Buddhafield North 2025 open retreat. We all had an amazing time. The activities for the children were magical and my kids loved everything that was happening. That my kids were happy and busy meant that I could enjoy the grown-up workshops and take in the general calm and lovely vibe of the camp. It was especially helpful for me as I’m a single mum as I’ve been struggling financially and couldn’t have afforded to go to the camp without the bursary. Most of the fun camps and festivals I do with my kids in the summer involve me working so that we can afford to be there, so for me, being at Buddhafield North with the bursary meant I didn’t have to work and I could really have a break and enjoy myself. I’m hugely grateful for the bursary and the opportunity to be at the camp.” Kaye
